Privacy Policy

Slip3 Studios ("we", "us", or "our") built The Fold - Recipe Vault ("The Fold", "the App") as a commercial application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.
The short version: Your recipes and data are stored securely on our servers so they sync across your devices and with your Groups. We do not sell your data, we have no ads, and we use no third-party analytics. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.
1. Information We Collect
The App uses Sign in with Apple to create your account. When you sign in, Apple provides us with:
- Apple User Identifier: A unique, stable identifier assigned by Apple to your account in our App.
- Display name: Only provided by Apple on your very first sign-in. You may be prompted to set or confirm this.
- Email address: Optional. Apple allows you to share your real email or use a private relay address. We use this only to associate your account; we do not send marketing email.
We also store the content you create in the App on our servers:
- Recipes, ingredients, steps, and notes you add
- Photos you attach to recipes
- Groups you create or join, and the recipes you share within them
- "Made it" posts and associated notes
This data is stored so that it syncs across your devices and so that recipes shared within a Group are accessible to all members.
2. Device Permissions
The App may request the following device permissions, each of which you may decline:
- Camera: Used to scan handwritten recipe cards using on-device optical character recognition (OCR). Images are processed locally and are not transmitted to our servers.
- Photo Library: Used to attach photos to your recipes. Selected photos are uploaded to our servers and associated with your account.
- Notifications: Used to send local reminders. Notifications are generated on-device and do not pass through any external service.
3. Account and Data Sync
Your account data and recipe content are stored on our secure cloud backend and synced in real time across your devices. This means:
- Your recipes and account are accessible from any device where you sign in with the same Apple ID.
- We have access to the content stored on our servers as part of operating the service. We do not access your content except as necessary to provide, maintain, and improve the App, or as required by law.
- We do not sell, share, or disclose your content to third parties for commercial purposes.
4. Groups (Shared Recipe Vaults)
The Groups feature allows you to share recipes with family and friends. When you create or join a Group:
- Recipes you share with a Group are stored on our servers and visible to all current members of that Group.
- Your display name and profile are visible to other Group members.
- Group membership is managed within the App. Owners can remove members; members can leave at any time.
- If you leave or are removed from a Group, recipes you shared remain in the Group unless explicitly deleted.
5. Recipe Import
When you import a recipe from a URL, the App fetches the webpage content directly from your device to extract recipe data. This request is made from your device to the website you specify. We do not proxy, log, or store imported URLs or the raw webpage content.
6. Purchases and Subscriptions
The App offers optional premium features through in-app purchases managed entirely by Apple's App Store and StoreKit framework. We do not collect or have access to your payment information, billing details, or Apple ID. All transactions are governed by Apple's Terms and Conditions.
7. Analytics and Tracking
We do not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising frameworks. The App contains no third-party SDKs for analytics, crash reporting, or advertising. We do not sell data to or share data with ad networks or data brokers.
8. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
- Apple Sign in with Apple: For account creation and authentication. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store / StoreKit: For in-app purchases. Governed by Apple's Terms and Conditions.
- Cloud infrastructure provider: We use a third-party cloud platform to host our backend. Your data is stored on servers operated by this provider on our behalf. This provider does not have permission to use your data for any purpose other than hosting it for us.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
Your data is retained on our servers as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter.
- To delete individual content: Delete recipes or leave Groups within the App at any time.
- To delete your account and all associated data: Use the "Delete Account" option in Settings, or contact us at slip3studios@gmail.com. We will permanently delete your account and all associated content within 30 days.
- After account deletion, residual copies may remain in backups for a limited period before being purged.
10. Children's Privacy
The App is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under the applicable age without verified parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. 11. Your Rights Under GDPR (European Economic Area)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Right of Access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification: You can edit your profile and recipe data directly within the App at any time.
- Right to Erasure: You can delete your account and all associated data as described in Section 9.
- Right to Data Portability: The App allows you to export recipes as PDF files. You may also contact us to request an export of your data.
- Right to Object / Restrict Processing: You may contact us to object to or request restriction of processing your personal data.
- Data Protection Officer: We have not appointed a DPO. For any privacy-related requests or questions, contact us at slip3studios@gmail.com.
Legal Basis for Processing: We process your personal data on the basis of contract performance (to provide the App's features you signed up for) and, where applicable, your consent (e.g., optional device permissions).
12. Your Rights Under CCPA / CPRA (California)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) grant you specific rights:
- Right to Know: We collect account identifiers and the content you create in the App as described in Section 1. We do not sell this data.
- Right to Delete: You may request deletion of your personal information as described in Section 9.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing: We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising. There is no data sale to opt out of.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We do not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights.
- Sensitive Personal Information: We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CPRA.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: We do not sell or share personal information for advertising purposes.
13. International Data Transfers
Your data may be stored and processed in data centers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States. By using the App, you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in the United States and other countries. We take reasonable steps to ensure your data is protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy regardless of where it is processed.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
